Small Fish in a Big Pond: A Journey to Gapan

Small Fish in a Big Pond: A Journey to Gapan

On August 19, 2024, something special happened in Gapan, Nueva Ecija. Blueshirt Solutions Inc., a small but determined player in the tech industry, found itself in the company of giants. We had the privilege of meeting with the City Mayor, Hon. Emary Joy D. Pascual, and felt honored to be part of an initiative to create jobs and make a real difference in this vibrant community.

A Partnership with Purpose

Our journey to Gapan wasn’t just about business; it was about joining forces with some of the most respected names in social and community development. Leading the charge was the Bayan Family of Foundations, guided by the esteemed Prof. Francisco Enrique “Jay” M. Bernardo III,  (President & Chairman of Bayan Family of Foundations). This organization needs no introduction—its impact on education and training within the community is profound. Partnering with them to improve employment rates and address the city’s challenges through training and certifications is not just an opportunity; it’s a mission we’re incredibly proud to be part of.

The Power of Ethical Recruitment

Another key player in this initiative is PEACEME, the Philippine Employment Agencies and Associates for Corporate Employers in the Middle East. These are mostly non-charging recruitment agencies, meaning no salary deductions or placement fees. This organization is often referred to as an ethical recruiter.

Their commitment to providing Filipinos with the resources they need to succeed, coupled with their dedication to ethical standards, makes them an invaluable partner. When you have a group like PEACEME by your side, the worries about finding jobs dissipate, knowing that you’re in capable and trustworthy hands.

Blueshirt: The “Nemo” in the Ocean

And then there’s us—Blueshirt Solutions Inc., the “Nemo” in this vast ocean filled with whales. Being a part of this initiative, surrounded by such influential and respected organizations, is both humbling and inspiring. We may be small, but we’re driven by a passion to make a difference. Our role in this project is to provide technological support and connect our registered employers with the city of Gapan. It’s a responsibility we take seriously, knowing that our work contributes to the betterment of Filipino lives.

Lessons from a Leader

Our meeting with Mayor Pascual was more than just a formal introduction—it was a lesson in leadership. Despite her busy schedule, she welcomed us warmly and shared some wisdom that will stay with me for a long time. As we discussed the challenges she faces, she said something that struck a chord:

“Madali maging Mayor kung tamad ka. Mahirap kung ginagawa mo ang trabaho mo.” (It’s easy to be a Mayor if you’re lazy. It’s hard if you’re actually doing your job.)

Hon. Emary Joy D. Pascual (Gapan, Nueva Ecija)  & Vince Ducut (Blueshirt Solutions Inc.)

This statement embodies her dedication to her constituents. We witnessed this firsthand when we arrived at City Hall and saw the long line of people waiting to see her. She doesn’t just listen to their concerns—she takes action, often staying late into the evening to ensure everyone is heard. It’s this kind of leadership that reassures us that we’re on the right path.

Moving Forward Together

As we left Gapan, I couldn’t help but feel a renewed sense of purpose. We’re not just a small fish in a big pond; we’re part of something much larger—a movement towards positive change. With leaders like Mayor Pascual, organizations like Bayan, and ethical groups like PEACEME, we’re confident that, while the journey may be challenging we’re heading in the right direction.

This experience wasn’t just another day at work—it was a reminder of why we do what we do. It was a glimpse into the impact we can have when we come together with a shared vision. And most importantly, it was a lesson in the power of persistence, passion, and doing the right thing, no matter how big the waves may be.

We invite all employers to offer job opportunities to our jobseekers’ community in Gapan. Please call or email us at +63287765138 / [email protected]
