Starry Story Sharing: A Heartwarming Day of Giving and Healing

December 8, 2023 – A heartwarming collaboration unfolded among Blueshirt Solutions Inc., Rensol Recruitment and Consulting, Inc., JCI Quezon City Capitol, Multiple Architectural Concepts, 501st Legion Philippine Garrison, Doctor Michelle Anne N. Mangubat of East Avenue Medical Center (also the Garrison Charity Representative 501st Legion Philippine Garrison), and The Rebel Legion: Bagong Pag-Asa Base, along with FightSaber Philippines. Together, they embarked on a special mission with a singular goal — to bring smiles to the faces of 47 children at the General Pediatrics ward of East Avenue Medical Center. This unique initiative, named “Starry Story Sharing,” transformed an ordinary day into an extraordinary one for both the givers and the receivers.

Crafting Tales of Inspiration

Blueshirt Solutions Inc. took the lead in orchestrating a craft stick Puppet Theater, weaving a tale of inspiration about the character “Sunny” and the significance of persistence in achieving one’s dreams. The excitement radiated through the hospital hallway as children, despite their physical challenges, eagerly approached the puppet show. Witnessing their curiosity and enthusiasm was a poignant reminder of the power of storytelling to uplift spirits and foster hope.

Participating in front of the children and witnessing their positive response were genuinely heartening. Though it was a modest production, the warmth of appreciation deeply touched us. This emotion has fueled our determination to continue our efforts. Recognizing the impact of bringing joy to others, particularly those who benefit from simple gestures, has reinforced our commitment.

A Different Level of Happiness

Following the enchanting story-sharing session, the collaborative effort continued as the community partners distributed art and hygiene kits. The joy that ensued went beyond the surface; it touched the core of everyone involved. While it may have seemed like the volunteers momentarily eased the children’s pain, the truth became evident—it was a reciprocal exchange of healing. The act of making souls happy proved that the true essence of giving can be found in the profound fulfillment one experiences when spreading joy and kindness.

Embracing Valuable Collaborators

Our deep gratitude goes out to our esteemed community partners for their unwavering commitment and wholehearted collaboration. It’s often said that to strive for excellence, one should surround oneself with the best, and our partners have truly exemplified this philosophy by contributing their maximum effort without hesitation.

Despite hectic schedules, there are instances when it becomes essential to break away from the confines of our workplace and engage in something different.

“I have been a member of the Philippine Garrison of the 501st Legion since December 2016. I am currently the Garrison Charity Representative and I mostly facilitate hospital visits given the nature of my profession. As a medical doctor, I believe in holistic management of my pediatric and adolescent patients. Healing not only involves treatment of their physical ailments but also taking care of their psychosocial and spiritual well-being as well. No matter how much work I have, I will always find time for events and projects that will bring joy to the kids. These are priceless moments that I hold dear to my heart and I will forever be grateful for having been given the opportunity to do this as a member of the 501st.“

“I’ve been a member of the Rebel Legion: Bagong Pag-Asa Base since 2017. I started young at the age of 18. As a big fan of Star Wars, at that age I already started getting into the hobby of building costumes and volunteering for our charity events.  I guess what motivates me to keep doing what we do is the combination of my passion for Star Wars and the passion to help other people in the best way I can. I believe that when you find people who need help, you help them no matter what. That’s why besides my professional career, I always try to find the time to attend our charity events and to dress up and all that.”

Salamat nang walang hanggan sa mga naging kaagapay namin sa project na ‘to. It just goes to show that sharing hope is not a one-way thing – nabigyan kami ng genuine opportunity to see first-hand the importance of hope sa mga ngiti ng mga batang napasaya namin. In a manner of speaking, by sharing hope, we also receive hope.

The Starry Story Sharing event is a testament to the transformative potential of collective kindness and compassion. On that unforgettable day, whether through stick puppets or lightsabers, smiles triumphed over pain, and shared stories wove a tapestry of hope and joy. The connections forged between volunteers and the children at East Avenue Medical Center transcended the constraints of illness, leaving a lasting impact on everyone involved. As the echoes of laughter and shared joy lingered in the atmosphere, it became evident that the magic of giving and healing is a captivating dance that illuminates even the darkest corners of our world. May the Starry Story Sharing initiative serve as inspiration for more acts of kindness, lighting the way to a brighter and more compassionate future.
